After leaving school, Jenny completed a hairdressing apprenticeship with North Lindsey College. This was 19 years ago and completing the qualification successfully gave her the stepping stone into the career she adored, and still does today.
Jenny found the hairdressing apprenticeship route suited her better than other conventional routes of attending college. As an apprentice, Jenny was able to attend college one day a week whilst working four days and being paid – ‘earn while you learn’, therefore gaining practical skills in the workplace.
Jenny now has 19 years’ experience in the industry, owns her own hair salon, called Jenny B, and is now looking to recruit an apprentice.
Jenny is extremely passionate about her business and continues to love her day to day hairdressing. As well as learning and dealing with new and exciting opportunities within the industry she always strives to gain new knowledge and skills to extend her craft. Jenny has a growing team and she encourages development constantly thinking ‘out of the box’.
Starting a hairdressing apprenticeship gave Jenny the ability to learn and qualify whilst being in a real working environment, and now as a business owner Jenny feels that the apprenticeship she achieved nearly 20 years ago gave her a bright future and she can offer this opportunity to others.
